Jose Calzada, 81, of Las Cruces, New Mexico went home to meet his Heavenly Father on March 02, 2023. He was born to Alfonso and Leonela Calzada in Los Azules, Chihuahua, Mexico on July 28, 1941. He married the love of his life Agueda Calzada and they enjoyed 59 wonderful years. They lived in Las Cruces and together raised 7 children, daughters Leonor “Noly” Calzada, Maria “Nena” Gutman husband Bob, Maria Concepcion “Concha” Calzada wife Terry and his sons Jose Alberto “Beto” Calzada wife Olga, Alejandro “Alex” Calzada wife Patty, Joel Calzada wife Delana and Julio Cesar Calzada wife Gina.
Left to cherish in his memories are his loving wife, children, 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and his sister Luz Molina.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Juanita Coronado and Grandson Jose Roberto Calzada.
Jose was a home builder his entire adult life. A hard-working man, he learned and mastered carpentry at a very young age. He built hundreds of homes throughout New Mexico. He was very involved with his various catholic church ministries which included, serving communion, playing the guitar in the church choir, and he also served in the prison ministries.
Serving as pall bearers will be Jose “Beto” Calzada, Alejandro Calzada, Joel Calzada, Julio Calzada, Concha Calzada, Victor Calzada and Bob Gutman.
Serving as honorary pall bearers are all of his grandchildren.
The family will receive family and friends beginning at 6pm with rosary to follow at 7pm on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the Getz Funeral Home, 1414 E Bowman Ave., Las Cruces, NM
Funeral services will be held at 10am, on Thursday March 9, 2023, at Our Lady of Health, 1178 N. Mesquite, Las Cruces, NM
Burial will take place at San Albino Cemetery, 2965 Calle de Guadalupe, Mesilla, NM.
