Obituary for Jeanette Cutler (Smith)

Jeanette Cutler (Smith)
Jeanette (Smith) Cutler was born on October 26, 1973, in Frankfurt, Germany to John David Smith, Jr. and Georgetta (Cox) Smith. She was the eldest of four children. She grew up mostly in El Paso, Texas, after spending some of her childhood years at various military bases with her family. After graduating from Parkland High School in El Paso, Texas, she attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Jeanette was an avid artist, mastering several mediums including sculpture, drawing, painting, crocheting, and knitting. She was passionate about fashion and loved to design and construct beautiful garments. She loved to laugh and joke, and took
pleasure in finding the joy and funny moments in life. She married Douglas Glenn Cutler on April 23, 1994, in El Paso, Texas. Jeanette and Douglas were excited to grow their family and welcomed two children – Ian Douglas Cutler and Sara Ann Cutler. The couple’s adventures took them to Las Cruces, New Mexico, Clovis, New Mexico, Sante Fe, New Mexico and Coloma, California, where Douglas started a bicycle shop. Jeanette fought and overcame cancer with courage and tenacity, being diagnosed when she was pregnant with her second child. Her health continued to improve over the
years, as she was dedicated to maintaining a vegan lifestyle. Her passion was raising her children – teaching them, playing video games with them, and guiding them along the way. Jeanette nurtured and molded them into the upstanding adults that they are today. Her children are her living legacy. Jeanette departed this life on September 6, 2023, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: two children Ian Douglas Cutler and Sara Ann Cutler; parents John and Georgetta Smith; one grandmother, Geraldine Williams; two sisters Jeri (Michael) Tuck and Leslie (Bobby) Tolman; one brother William Smith; nieces and nephews: Adrian Smith, Lauren Smith, Cameron Tolman, Cody Tolman,
Gianna Tuck, Xavier Tuck; aunts and uncles: Aleta Childs, Frances Boxley, Rose Wordlaw, Margaret Smith, Deborah Smith, Charles (Pauline) Smith, Raymond (Patricia) Cox, Vernetta Cox, Michael Cox and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, maternal grandfather, Clifton Williams; paternal grand-parents, John David Smith, Sr. and Isabella (Byndom) Smith, mother-in- law, Glenna (Webb) Cutler, father-in-law Colonel Harold G. Cutler, USAF Retired and aunts and uncles Constance Smith, Jeannette Williams, Colonel James Childs, USAR, Retired, and Kenneth Smith. Jeanette’s sweet, warm spirit, and her joyful laughter will be missed dearly.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 2:30 pm at Getz Funeral Home Chapel followed by Burial at Masonic.
