Abel Rivera, 66, passed away December 21, 2011, surrounded by friends and family after a brave fight with pancreatic cancer. He was born on April 24, 1945 to Augustine and Blasa Rivera and was very proud to tell everyone he was from Namiquipa, Chihuahua, MX. Abel Rivera, 66, passed away December 21, 2011, surrounded by friends and family after a brave fight with pancreatic cancer. He was born on April 24, 1945 to Augustine and Blasa Rivera and was very proud to tell everyone he was from Namiquipa, Chihuahua, MX. Abel was a hard worker, working at local Dairies and also devoted over 20 years at Stahmann Farms as a laborer. Abel's amazing spirit and zest for life will forever be missed, but never forgotten. Abel married Socorro Rivera April 30, 1973. They had three sons; Abel Rivera Jr, Kenneth Rivera and Horacio Rivera(Angie) and one daughter, Guadalupe (Lupita) Rivera (Jeff Pate) all from Las Cruces, NM. Abel is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Adriana Granado, Steven Rivera, Matthew Rivera, Olga Rivera, Anahi De la Rosa, Nevaeh De la Rosa, Alexis Rivera, Nayeli Rivera, Jazlyn Pate and two great grandchildren. Abel shared the last years of his life with Companion Victoria Arriaga, which he had 3 children with and was very proud of; Roger (Roy) Arriaga, and two daughters Estrella Rivera and Marina Rivera and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters. The Rivera family wishes to thank everyone at the MMC Cancer Center for all of their help and support. Visitation for Abel will be on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 5-7pm, with a Prayer Vigil at 7pm at Getz Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be Wednesday December 28, 2011 at 10am at San Miguel Catholic Church, with committal to follow at San Miguel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Fernando Corona, Jeff Pate, Jaime Luna, Fernie Rodriguez, Ricky Rodriguez, and Roy Rivera. PDF Printable Version
