Abraham Pomerantz died peacefully in his sleep at the Heritage House Sunday, May 15,2016. He was born on October 4, 1919, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the fourth child of Rebecca and Samuel Pomerantz. Abraham graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and attended Temple University. He served in the US Armed Forces 147th Engineer Battalion. They Landed on D Day and fought their way to Berlin. On returning home from the Armed Services, he joined his brother-in-law, Louis, at "Jimmy" Bass shoes until 1972, where they specialized in women's high fashion footwear. After that he became the office manager for his nephew, Dr. Harry Bass until the age of 94. "Mr. P or "Uncle Abe" as he was also known was a loving, kind gentleman who truly enjoyed people and learning about them. He loved beautiful things and enjoyed dressing up each day for work wearing a suit and tie. He also enjoyed big band music and sharing life stories with people. He is survived by his nephew, Dr. Harry Bass and wife Diane, his great niece and nephews; Rachael and Richard L Bass, of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Alyse Bass and his great, great nieces Anna and Rebecca Leggett of Chevy Chase, Maryland, and great nephew Samuel Bass and wife Susie and great, great nephew Adam Bass and great, great niece Megan Bass of Boise, Idaho He was preceded in death by his three sisters and their husbands, Rachal and Nathan Dorfman, Ida and Louis "Jimmy" Bass and Yetta and Jack Lipschutz.
