Alberta Cecilia Harty

September 20, 1934 — January 9, 2013

Cecilia "Mimaw" Harty loving mother, grandmother and friend, passed away January 9, 2013 and is now resting with her lord and savior. She was born in Runge, TX, September 20, 1934 the 12th of 13 children, grew up in San Antonio, TX attending St. Michaels and Providence High Schools and settled in Las Cruces in 1956 after her marriage to Jim. She was an active parishioner of the Holy Cross Catholic Church where she attended daily mass and served as a lector and a Eucharistic minister. She was an avid bowler and a true fan of many sports especially football, basketball, and golf. Other interests included reading, doing puzzles, crocheting and traveling, having just completed a 5,000 mile road trip and a cruise to Alaska. She retired many years ago, having last worked at Dona Ana Title Company; she worked many years with Pat Campbell Insurance and also worked with her husband, Jim. She is survived by many family members of several generations; including her five children and their spouses; James Jr. and Susan, John and Linda, Jeff and Diana, Pam and Tom Hughan and Jerry and Patricia. She was very proud of her grandchildren Zach, Kolby, John Jr., Jennifer, Jessica, Jerrillyn, Julliana, Josh, Tasha, Tabatha, Amanda, William, Breanne, Casey and especially proud of Kloiee, her great-granddaughter. Surviving siblings are Betty, Helen, EH, Lucy, Ida Mae; a very dear cousin (really a sister and best friend) Liz and countless others. She was preceded in death by her husband James F. Harty Sr., parents Albert and Josephine Spaeth, siblings Christine, Rosalia, Gebhardt, Apalonia, Ann, Sandy, and Ray. A visitation will be at 9:00am on Monday January 14, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The celebration of her life led by Monsignor Anderson will begin at 9:30am also at Holy Cross Catholic Church with a Rosary followed by public comments. The funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am. Pallbearers will be the grandsons and the granddaughters will provide the readings. There will be a private internment service.
