The Life of service, love, and devotion to God, came to an end on Sunday morning, August 24, 2008 for Albertena Elizabeth Trotter in Houston, Texas after a long illness. Albertena was born on January 23, 1919 to Sydney and Irene Cain Miller in Seguin, Texas. Her parents preceded her in death along with her siblings, Marie Williams, Nadine Johnson, and Leonard Green. While being educated in the public schools of Glidden, TX, Albertena loved books but also sports and played on the girl's basketball team. Although short in stature, she was a tenacious power forward. At an early age Albertena gave her life to Christ at the historic Olive Branch Baptist Church of Glidden, Texas. She married Sammie Bratcher and to that union Albert James Bratcher was added. An untimely death left her a young widow and she moved to San Antonio, Texas. There she united with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. In 1948, she met and married Andrew L. Trotter, a Sgt. First Class, in the U.S. Army, and to that union Andrew Leon, Anna Irene, Alan Timothy, and Anthony David was added. Albertena was employed in various capacities before becoming a military, stay-at-home wife and mom. She lived in Texarkana, TX, Yokohama, Japan and Mannheim, Germany and traveled to Italy, Austria, and Switzerland, however, the majority of the years the family was stationed at White Sands Missile Range, NM. The Trotter family moved to Las Cruces, NM in 1958 where she resided until her death. Sister Trotter was employed at several places until she became a military wife. She traveled to Texarkana, Japan and Germany however most of the time the family was stationed at White Sands Missile Range. The Trotter family moved to Las Cruces in 1958 where she resided until her death. Albertan as many knew her was the Volunteer extraordinaire. She worked with the Girl Schools, Booker T. Washington PTA, and helped at Mesa Development. She volunteered at RSVP, after many years of volunteering she was employed by Munson Senior Citizens Program for thirteen years before retiring. Her absolute love was for God and His Church. She sang in the Radio Choir of the Oak Street Baptist Church in Las Cruces, NM and was an active member until her death. Her membership included the Senior Choir, Sunday school teacher for youth and adults, for over 25 years, Deaconess, and President of the Women's Department for 17 years as well as many committees. She also served as the Worship Chairman for the New Hope District Association Women's Department for over 10 years. Albertena loved her family and church and many counted on her as mentor. Albertena is survived by her loving children who will forever cherish her memory, four sons Albert James (Jimmy) Bratcher of Carson, CA, Andrew Leon Trotter and Anthony (Tony) David Trotter of Las Cruces, NM, Alan Timothy (Timmy) Trotter of Detroit, MI, and one daughter Anna Irene Allen and her devoted Son-In-Law, Mitchell, of Missouri City, TX. Sisters Helen Williams of Houston, TX and JoAnn Knight of San Antonio, TX, Brother John Green of San Antonio, TX. Daughters-in-Law Wanda Trotter of Lithonia, GA and Faye Randle of Houston, TX. Grandchildren Cherie Dominique Trotter of Lithonia, GA, Dallas, Darren, and Tonisha Trotter of Las Cruces, NM, Marcus and Derrick Allen of Houston, TX, Faye Randle, Houston, TX; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends that will remember her smiles, her pearls of wisdom, and her heart and home that was opened to them. A Wake Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, August 29, 2008 at Bethel Second Baptist Church, 405 East Hadley Ave. Funeral Services for Albertena will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2008 also at Bethel Second Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Gregory Arthur, Pastor. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers will be James Mintz, Jr., Al Lynch, Jerry Warner, Michael Davis, Phillip Drummer, and Steven A. Pettes, Sr. "DON'T WORRY ABOUT ME FOR MY REST IS NOW COMPLETE" You wonder why I went away and didn't say goodbye, I couldn't bear to tell you for it hurts me when I cry, My ship came in the morning, and beautiful it was to me.
