Alcea Bell Anthony Southall, a resident of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away on July 5, 2012 at the age of 88. Alcea was born December 31, 1923 to J.B. and Ina Anthony of Clopton, TN. She married Fallen Southall on May 6, 1941. Fallen and Alcea farmed in Covington, TN until 1952 when health reasons made it necessary to move the family to Albuquerque, NM. During the time they lived in Albuquerque, Alcea was employed at Kirtland and Sandia Bases. Following their retirement, Fallen and Alcea moved back to Covington where they cared for their parents and farmed. They returned to NM in 1984 settling in Belen and in 2008 Alcea moved to Las Cruces. Alcea was a long-time member of the Southern Baptist Church, having been active in First Baptist Church, Covington, TN; Heights Baptist Church, Albuquerque, NM; First Baptist Church, Belen, NM; and most recently, Hill Baptist Church, Las Cruces, NM. Alcea was preceded in death by her husband, Fallen Southall; her parents, J.B. and Ina Anthony; and her two sisters; Claire Silano and Leta Wilson. She is survived by her brother, J.B. Anthony, Jr. and wife, Jean of Clopton, TN; two sisters-in-law, Mable Southall of Covington, TN and Elizabeth Nix of Memphis, TN. Her children, Regina Cole and husband Oscar of Belen, NM; Judy Lawrence of Las Cruces and Judy's companion, Wade Worrell of Deming, NM. Four grandchildren: Brent Lawrence of Deming, NM; Kathryn Patton and husband, Kevin of Albuquerque, NM; Michelle Dunn and husband, Ron of Jasper, TN; and Rebecca Clark of Leander, TX. Eleven great grandchildren: Jacob, Joseph, Kyle, Kacie, and Kody Patton of Albuquerque; Gordon Tolliver, Fallen and Sabrina Dunn of Jasper, TN; Bradley Clark of Belen; and Morgan and Takoda Smith of Leander, TX. The family deeply appreciates the care given to Alcea by the staff of The Heritage Assisted Living and Hospice of Las Cruces, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Clopton United Methodist Church building fund, 5285 Brighton Clopton Rd, Brighton, TN 38011; Gideons International or charity or your choice. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m., Sunday July 8, 2012 at Hill Baptist Church 7974 Dona Ana Rd with Bill Johnson officiating. Graveside services will be Monday July 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen, New Mexico. PDF Printable Version
