Alejandro Lara, 85 of Las Cruces, NM died Wednesday July 16, 2008 at Mesilla Valley Hospice La Posada. He was born July 17, 1922 in Smeltertown, TX to Guadalupe and Juanita Lara. Alejandro served his Country Honorably in the United States Army. After being discharged from the Army Mr. Lara continued his service to our nation by working and retiring from White Sands Missile Range as an Ammunition Handler. He took great pride in his family and especially his grandchildren. Alejandro was a man with a great wealth of knowledge and shared that with his family from coaching, to fixing anything, to life lessons. His smile and the love he shared will be missed by all. He is survived by his six children, Alex and wife Maurice, Ernest and wife Yoli, Ralph and wife Marian all of Las Cruces, NM; Juanita and husband David Perez of Chula Vista, CA; Patsy and Husband Don Beasley of Las Cruces, NM; and Alice and husband Mark Baker of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Steve, Christopher, Eric, Jessica, Randy, Debbie, Alan, Michael, Mark, Danica, Brad and David; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren as well as many other family members. Alejandro was preceded in death by his loving wife Carmen Ceniceros Lara, his four sisters Paubla Gallegos, Jesus Maria Pena, Ramona Acuna, and Refugia Manchaca, and his two brothers Albert and Jose Lara. Pallbearers will be Alejandro's grandsons. A visitation will be held Friday July 18, 2008 from 5-7 PM at Getz Funeral Home with a prayer vigil to follow at 7 PM also at Getz. The funeral mass will be given Saturday July 19, 2008 at 12 noon at the St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with cremation to follow the services and the rite of committal to held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Alejandro's name to Mesilla Valley Hospice. The family would like to thank all who cared for him especially the entire staff of Mesilla Valley Hospice and the staff of Home Instead. PDF Printable Version
