Alexander “Alex” Raymond Telles

With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of our brother, Alex Raymond Telles, age 60 on Feb 15, 2024, from complications of the flu.

Alex, a lifelong resident of Las Cruces, was born on September 12, 1963, to Raymond S. and Dolores (Lucero) Telles. He graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1981 and attended New Mexico State University.

His love for baseball and other sports started at a young age playing for various leagues throughout his childhood that provided lifelong friendships. In high school he proudly pitched for the Las Cruces High School Bulldogs. He was a diehard NY Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan (although this past season tested his loyalty). Throughout his life he loved fishing, camping, and hanging out with his friends and cousins.

Alex’s employment included working for Womelsdorf Building, Fierro Mechanical, White Sands Missile Range, and New Mexico State University. The skills that he learned enabled him to help others in need of handyman projects which he loved doing. During the past 10 years, Alex would often be found visiting dad, taking a buffet of their favorite snacks (especially sandia), and enjoying football together. We, as his sisters, will miss his much-anticipated texts, emojis and pictures to assure us that dad was doing okay.

Alex, our family is forever changed, and we will feel your absence deeply. Your smile, humor, and ability to make us laugh was a gift to us. Your death brings us back to the foundations of Faith and Hope in what we know to be true beyond this life. It makes our pain and grief bearable. God’s love and mercy sustains us until we’re together again.

Survivors include his father, Raymond Telles, Elaine Cervoni, girlfriend of eighteen years, sisters Marcy Womelsdorf (Ed) of Cedar Hill, TX, Sylvia Ryan (Tom) of St Paul, MN, Angie Pyatt (Mark) of Colorado Springs, CO, Bert Goldblatt (Greg) of Las Cruces, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Alexander “Xander” Santos Telles, and his mother, Dolores Telles.
