Alfonso Hernandez, died Nov. 21, 2006 from an extended illness. Alfonzo was born in Hatch. NM to Leopoldo and Francisca Hernandez. He was a long time resident of Otero and Dona Ana Counties before moving to Tucumcari, NM in 1998, where he lived until his death with his daughter and son-in-law. He retired as a supply technician from White Sands Missile Range in 1976. Then was a security guard for many years. He was also a veteran of the Korean Theater. Surviving Mr. Hernandez is one daughter Margaret (Ramon) Aragon of Tucumcari; one son Ernest Hernandez (Marilu) of Las Cruces; four grandsons Jose (Frances) Aragon, Ernest (Jessica) Hernandez all of Albuquerque, Ramon (Lila) Aragon of Tucumcari and Orlando Hernandez of Las Cruces; two granddaughters Amy (Steve) Gutierrez, Isabel (Richard) Jones all of Tucumcari; 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandkids 3 sisters Hilda Marin of Albuquerque, Alice Torres of Las Cruces and Leola Romero of Hatch; 2 brothers Sammy and Erasmo Guevarra both of Las Cruces. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in Tortugas for many years. He was a member of the VFW 14000 of the National Chapter. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Otila R. Hernandez in 1976 and by his 2nd wife Inez (Montoya) Hernandez in 1998 and by a great-granddaughter Erika Marie Aragon in 1999. A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 PM on Monday, Nov. 27, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will follow at 6 PM. The funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006 also at Our Lady of Guadalupe with Fr. Don Adamski officiating. Rite of Committal will be at the Tortugas Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers are Orlando Hernandez, Ramon Aragon Jr., Alfred Melendrez, Steve Gutierrez, Danny Archuleta and Benjamin Archuleta. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jose Aragon, Ernest J. Hernandez, Albert Archuleta, Jeremiah Archuleta, Roger and Ezekiel Montoya. PDF Printable Version
