Allen Scott Christmas July 1, 1945 - February 28, 2015 A. "Scott" Christmas, 69, of Las Cruces, NM passed suddenly after battling a chronic illness Saturday, February 28, 2015. Scott, along with his younger brother Jim, traveled throughout the country alongside their parents, Phyllis Gillanders and Albert Henry Christmas, until settling in T or C, NM. Scott attended Hot Springs High School where he would meet the love of his life, Anne Vincent, as well as many life-long friends. Scott proudly volunteered to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict, where he forged significant and lasting bonds with his comrades who served alongside him, he then went on to study Ag Econ at NMSU. Scott was a man who thrived on, and took great pride as an entrepreneur in the construction business. He founded A.S. Christmas, Inc., responsible for numerous utility projects throughout Las Cruces and statewide. When Scott wasn't at the job site, he was on a horse, roping steers. In 1992, Scott's valued career was halted after suffering a traumatic brain injury while team roping. However, Scott's life was not defined by his physical limitations. He always had a project he was working on, many of which were focused on handcrafting wooden toys and art pieces. Scott could often be found sharing a story over many cups of coffee and stirring up laughter. Above all else, Scott's greatest pride and joy was his family, and his friends. Scott was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his only brother Jim. Scott is survived by his wife of 45 years, Anne V. Christmas; sons Kent Christmas, Dean Christmas (Sabra) of Albuquerque, NM; daughters Sara Christmas (Blake Redson), Susie Christmas of Denver, CO; and grandchildren Otto, Hunter and William. A memorial service will be held at University United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cowboys for Cancer Research, www.cowboys-4-cancer-research1.mybigcommerce.com/c4cr-donation/. PDF Printable Version
