She grew up in Fredrick with two younger brothers and upon finishing school was employed as a telephone operator in the days of "number please". Alma Lorraine Lewis passed away April 1st 2013, at home with family, in Las Cruces, NM. Lorraine was born June 20, 1922 in Fredrick, Oklahoma, to Alma and Minnie Steeds. She grew up in Fredrick with two younger brothers and upon finishing school was employed as a telephone operator in the days of "number please". She married Jack Lewis in 1944 and they moved to Las Cruces and lived in or around there until her death. Lorraine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis Ann Carter, two grandchildren David Paul and Samantha Carter, granddaughter-in-law Heidi Vance, and two great-grandchildren Chase Paul and Cheyenne Paul. At her request cremation has taken place and her interment will take place in the Fredrick, Oklahoma Cemetery, where her husband has already been laid to rest. There will be no local services and a private family dinner will be held in her honor. PDF Printable Version
