America Gonzalez, 81 of La Mesa, New Mexico passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Artemio Gonzalez of La Mesa, NM; her granddaughter, America Valverde, whom she has taken care of since she was 3 years old; two sons Artemio Gonzalez Jr. of Dell City, TX; J.L. Gonzalez of Mesquite, NM; three daughters, Maria Gonzalez of La Mesa, NM; Iris Baca of Las Cruces, NM; and Gloria Nevins of Del Cerro, NM. Also surviving are one brother, Francisco Garza of Las Cruces, NM and sister, Elmina Garcia of Corpus Christi, TX. America has 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
