Andres "Andy" Garcia Silva, 44, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2020 in Las Cruces, NM. He was born March 17, 1975 to Andres and Gloria Silva. He was the third of their six children. He grew up in Las Cruces, NM. He is a 1994 graduate of Mayfield High School, where he lettered in Athletics. He enjoyed his wrestling team and football squad. Upon graduating high school, Andy joined the US Army in 1994 as an M1 Armor Crewman. While serving overseas in Germany he was deployed on a UN Peacekeeping mission during the Bosnian War. During his time in the service, he was decorated with the Army Achievement medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver and Mechanical Badge, Armed Forces Service Medal, German Marksmanship Badge and the United Nations Medal prior to separating from the Army. He loved serving his country and was very proud of being a veteran of the US Army. Upon his return to the states, he attended the Christ For the Nations Institute in Dallas, TX. While there, he heard a stronger calling from God to spread the Word simply by being him. He had a passion to break bread with the broken, treat everyone with kindness, and respect everyone as an equal. His work ethic was unmatched and was a great fit in the construction industry. At the time of his passing, he was employed at L & P Building Supply as a Production Manager. Andy's hobbies included taking in the rich culture and food that Las Cruces has to offer. He could often be found at a local mom and pop restaurant supporting their endeavors, and his appetite! A lifelong LA Dodgers and KC Chiefs fan, he could be found cheering his teams on thru victory or loss. A good conversation over coffee and blues was always a welcomed pastime for him. As a man with a past full of life-changing experiences, he was always eager to lend a listening ear and a supporting shoulder. He was truly a Godsend for anyone who met him. He is survived by his daughter Talia of Billings, Montana. He is also survived by his parents, Andres and Gloria Silva of Las Cruces, as well as his sister Monica Silva-Farnell (Brian) of Las Cruces, brothers TSgt Fabian Silva (South Korea), Estevan Silva (Las Cruces), and Christian "Chris" Silva (Las Cruces). He also leaves behind 10 nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded to Heaven by his brother, Lalito.
