Angel Quinones

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend Angel Quiones Jr., age 70, of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Angel was called home to be with the Lord on June 5, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 20, 1952, in his childhood home on the Las Cruces Beene Farm to Angel R. Quinones and Guadalupe C. Quinones. Before his passing he was married to his soul mate of 23 years, Elfida Vasquez Quiones. Angel was a member of the Roman catholic church being a long-time member of Our Lady of health. Angel was a graduate of Mayfield High school, and then attended DABCC taking an interest in police science. Unfortunately, due to being colorblind he was unable to pursue a career as a police officer, which then led him to his career in the auto part industry, leaving behind a 40+ year legacy as an auto parts professional. In his spare time, he loved being a championship winning soccer coach to many youth, who never forgot coach Angel Q. He was also known for being a big sports enthusiast as a die-hard Dallas Cowboys & Aggies fan. Not only did he enjoy watching all types of sports, he was also very athletic himself. As an avid racquet ball player, he enjoyed spending much of his time at Tom Young's fitness center. He was happiest surrounded by his playful grandchildren watching them run around from his recliner. He loved spending time with his children camping, fishing, and attending hockey, Aggie football & basketball, and all high school football games. He also loved to get together with the family, but he especially enjoyed the food! He absolutely relished in his wife's delicious homemade cooking and if you knew Angel you knew he would eat everything and anything with a tortilla even enchiladas & his signature "bologna wrap". He was deeply loved, cherished, and respected by all his nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephews that he always made feel like his very own. Angel was truly a kid at heart and his fun-loving personality will be tremendously missed. Those left to mourn his passing are the love of his life Elfida Quinones, his children John Jacob Quiones, Amanda Jean Quiones-Alvarado, and Dr. Amber Jeanette Quiones, along with his stepchildren Atilana Herrera, Marysol Verduzco, Lorenzo Rodriguez, and Izaac Rodriguez. His siblings Armida Hernandez (Pete+), Elia Quiones (Mark), Stella Quinones-Bernal (Gilbert), Lupe Lujan (David), Ida Quiones, Annie Waterman (Jerry+), David Quiones (Rosanna), Frank Quiones (Sylvia). As well as mucho, mucho nieces, & nephews, great nieces & nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all his in laws who truly loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents Angel Quinones Sr., Guadalupe Quinones, and a granddaughter Khyana Sky Morales all of Las Cruces, NM. A few brothers in laws, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, from Las Cruces, NM, Fabians, TX, and Compton, California. Visitation will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Thursday, June 8, 2023, beginning at 5:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church beginning at 11:00 am. Pallbearers are Eric Lujan, Christopher Hernandez, Christopher Joseph Hernandez Jr., Efrain Torres, Izaac Rodriguez, Lorenzo Rodriguez, Matthew Morris, and Aidan Renteria. Honorary pallbearers are Landon Hines, Isreal Tafoya, Charlene Avalos, David Anthony Lujan, Louie Quinones, Elizabeth Renteria, Veronica Hernandez, Rebecca Hernandez, Samantha Morris, and Ashley Quiones. The family would like to thank Home Kare Inc of Dona Ana, and Gentiva Hospice of Las Cruces for the tender loving care given to our Angel Baby as well as the support to the family during this difficult time.
