Anselma E. Garcia, age 96 of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away October 12, 2006 peacefully at home with her daughters Manuela and Socorro and "Sus Munecas" Blanca and Lorena by her side. She was born April 21, 1910 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Juan and Maria (Sanchez) Encina. She had been an area resident since 1982 ans was a parishioner at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Although Dona Anselma never had children of her own she devoted herself to her late husband Felix Garcia's "large" family and in return was loved and respected by all and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her family who took care of her up until her death, daughter; Manuela (Juan) Cruz, granddaughters; Blanca Cruz and Lorena Armendariz all of Las Cruces, NM. Other survivors include her sons; Reyes (Mercedes) Garcia of Cd. Juarez, MX., Eleuterio (Rubina) Garcia of Palomas, MX., Arcadio (Linda) Garcia of Deming, NM., daughters; Socorro (Manuel) Martinez, Gloria (Andres) Silva all of Las Cruces, NM., Jesusita (Nasario) De La Cruz of Albuquerque, NM., Alejandra (Felipe) Orona of Cd. Juarez, MX. sister; Lola Ordonez of El Paso, TX, nephews Othon (Tina) Encina of Chicago, IL., and Jose Luis (Lupita) Encina of El Paso, TX, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Don Felix G. Garcia (2002), sons, Felix, Isaias, Ramon, Anastacio, and Pilar Garcia, brothers; Aniseto and Margaro Encina, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may gather to visit Monday, October 16, 2006 from 5 to 7 PM at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where a Prayer Vigil will begin at 7 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at 10 AM at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Moreno officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, son in law; Juan Cruz, grandsons; Jorge, Hector, Luis and Manuel Garcia, and Gabriel Orona. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren, Hector Jr. and David Garcia, Marisela and Juan Angel Cruz, Dana Armendariz, and Jorge Antonio Garcia Jr. PDF Printable Version
