Anthony "Tony" LeMieux, 45, of Las Cruces, NM died Tuesday November 11, 2008. He was born April 6, 1963 in New York, NY. Tony was born deaf, and sustained a traumatic brain injury at the age of 6 in a car accident. Tony graduated from the New York School for the Deaf where he studied from 1968 to 1980. While attending school he trained to work in the restaurant kitchen industry. Tony worked for Marriott Catering, in the IBM Complex in Yorktown, New York where he earned employee of the month several times. He moved to New Mexico to live with his sister Marilyn and husband Craig and their family in 2000. After moving to Las Cruces, Tony was employed by Applebee's on Telshor. He was a dedicated and enthusiastic employee, often covering shifts for others; he was on his way to work at Applebee's when he died. Tony attended Bible Study at Calgary Baptist Church, and met many deaf friends there. He enjoyed working, watching movies, pistachios, playing with the family dog Kiara and playing cards with family members. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Marilyn Sullivan, Peter Petri, Charles Petrie, Raymond Petri, and Marty Petri, and was uncle to Kristen and Anne Marie Sullivan and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Marie and Charles Petri. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Holy Cross Youth Ministry 1327 N. Miranda Las Cruces NM 88005. A memorial service will be held at 10 am Saturday November 22, 2008 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church. The rite of committal will follow at the St. Francis Columbarium also at Holy Cross.
