Antonia E. Gomez, 75 of Del Cerro, NM died Monday, December 11, 2006 surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness at Memorial Medical Center. She was born July 18, 1931 in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Vicente and Eugenia Esparza. She was a life long resident of the area and was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church in Del Cerro, NM. Antonia E. Gomez, 75 of Del Cerro, NM died Monday, December 11, 2006 surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness at Memorial Medical Center. She was born July 18, 1931 in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Vicente and Eugenia Esparza. She was a life long resident of the area and was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church in Del Cerro, NM. She leaves behind her husband Carpio Gomez; four sons, Ruben Gomez and his wife Melita; Oscar Gomez; Juan Gomez and his wife Adisla and Carpio Gomez Jr and his wife Elsa all of Las Cruces, NM. Two brothers, Carlos Esparza of San Elizario, TX and Cruz Esparza of Juarez, MX and two sisters, Concepcion Esparza and Consuelo Carbajal both of Juarez, MX. Also surviving Antonia are 14 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Velia Valencia. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 6 PM on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home. The prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM at San Pedro Catholic Church in Del Cerro. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 AM on Friday, December 15, 2006 at San Pedro Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. The rite of committal and burial will follow at San Miguel Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers will be Ruben, Oscar, Juan and Carpio Gomez Jr., Fernando Valencia, and Carlos Esparza.
