Armando “T” Valadez

Armando “T” Molinar Valadez was born in El Paso, TX on February 21st, 1935 to Luciano Valadez and Eulalia Molinar. He passed away in Ruidoso, NM on Friday November 3, 2023, with his son and grandson, Junior, by his side.

Armando grew up in Las Cruces and Alamogordo, where he and his brothers would play in the neighborhood, and he began working for neighbors and local farms as a young man. He moved to Southern California in the 1960s, where he later met his longtime partner, Eva Kimbrell, who he shared almost 40 years with, and provided full-time care for in the last years of her life. Armando was skilled at many trades, was very generous, and always willing to help anyone who may need. He was a loving, gentle man, who always had the best smile and a little chuckle to go with it. He was also very active, walking The Links almost daily, until age 86. Armando was a devout Catholic, who spent his early mornings reading his very loved and well-worn Bible and could be found in the back pew of St. Eleanor’s church every Sunday. He enjoyed woodworking, building elaborate bird houses that he would give to neighbors and family and, once, built a beautiful, hand-carved, model ship. Armando was a loving partner, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who spent his life caring for and giving to others. And while we know he is happy to finally be Home, we will miss him tremendously.

Armando is survived by a sister, Eva Galvan of San Jose, CA; one brother, Rudy Valadez of Alamogordo, NM; a daughter, Esther Alonzo of Hawthorne, CA, her husband Manuel, and their children, Roman and Manuel; a son, Errick Kimbrell of Ruidoso, NM, his wife, Chelsea, and their two children, Patrick and Sophie; grandchildren, Lauren, Roderick Jr., Ian, Rachel, Megan, Morgan, Santino, Joseph, Junior, Ashley, Alexandria, Alexia, Alejandra, Andrea; many great grandchildren, and so many family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Armando is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Concepcion, brothers, Alfredo, Raul, Robert and Joe, his “lady”, Eva, and Eva’s children, Andrea “Gigi” and Fred Kimbrell, whom Armando cared for.

Visitation will be at 5pm on November 13th, at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces, NM.

Rosary and Mass at St. Genevieve Catholic Church on November 14th at 10am followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
