Arnulfo Ortega Gutierrez, 88, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away on February 1, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, peacefully at home. Arnulfo O. Gutierrez was born in Las Cruces, NM, to Refugio (Cuco) Gutierrez and Rebecca Ortega Gutierrez on September 10, 1932. He was the youngest of his siblings, two brothers, predeceased: Henry Ortega Gutierrez and Refugio (Cuco) Gutierrez, Jr., two sisters, predeceased: Dolores (Lola) Lopez and Angelita Rodriguez. Arnulfo is also predeceased by his parents and sadly, his Son, Michael J. Gutierrez. Arnulfo is survived by his Loving Wife of 69 years (and high school sweetheart), Lorraine Rivera Gutierrez (Las Cruces, NM), Daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Gutierrez (Phoenix, AZ), Cindy Gutierrez-Barraza and Son-in-law, Robert (Bobby) Barraza (Las Cruces, NM) and Son, Ronald (Ronnie) Gutierrez (Las Cruces, NM). Arnulfo is also survived by his Grandchildren: Gabriel Arnulfo Gutierrez (Buffalo, NY), Cynthia (Rainy) Barraza Gasteulum (Phoenix, AZ) and Joseph Ray Gutierrez (Loveland, CO), Great Grandchildren: Robert Angel Barraza Uranga (Phoenix, AZ) and Danielle Alyssa Gasteulum (Phoenix, AZ). In addition, he is survived by, Sister/Brother-In-Laws: Kitty Romero (Las Cruces, NM), Jesus (Chickie) and Virginia (Gina) Rivera (Las Cruces, NM), Connie Rivera (Las Cruces, NM) and Rachel Rivera (Upper Marlboro, MD), many Nephews, Nieces, Godchildren and Friends. Arnulfo served proudly in the United States Army, 716 AAA Gun Batallion, and the Unit had held its 66th Reunion on October 7-8, 2016, at La Posta in Mesilla, NM, with 16 Survivors of "A" Battery of the 716 AAA Gun Batallion attended, along with their loving families. Arnulfo also served proudly as a Member and Employee of the New Mexico Army National Guard, achieving the rank of CWO4, and retired from the New Mexico Army National Guard after 39 years of dedicated service. Arnulfo was also a Master Plumber, for decades, and had his own business: Gutierrez Heating & Plumbing Co., then, Gutierrez & Sons Plumbing - Heating - A/C Arnulfo was also a proud long time member of the Knights of Columbus. Arnulfo was a GREAT, FANTASTIC and LOVING Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, Godfather, Serviceman, Mentor, Friend, Provider for his Family, and over all, a GREAT CLASSY MAN. He will be missed. Services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 with a rosary at 2:00 pm at St. Genevieves Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina St. followed by mass at 2:30 pm.
