Arturo M. Garcia, 98, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2005 at Casa Del Sol Nursing Center.Mr. Garcia was born on April 17, 1907 in Dona Ana, New Mexico to Pedro and Marta Garcia. He married Carmen Archuleta in 1935. Mr. Garcia served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre and was honorably discharged from military service. Upon his return from the war, he was employed in the dry cleaning business until his retirement. Mr. Garcia was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and is survived by one daughter, Alice Montoya; three grandchildren: W. Ron Camunez (Las Cruces), Delilah Chavez and her husband Tomas (Colo. Springs, CO), and Desiree Diaz and her husband Richard (Albuquerque). Four great-grandchildren: Brandon Chavez and Cassandra Chavez (Colo. Springs), and Eric Diaz and Jason Diaz (Albuquerque). He is also survived by one brother, Ernesto M. Garcia. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carmen and his brothers and sister: Guillermo, Placido, Lorenzo and Fred Garcia and Emilia Valencia and his son-in-law, Sam Montoya. Visitation for Mr. Garcia will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home with his grandson, Elder W. Ron Camunez of the Seventh-day Adventist Church officiating. El Diablo Marine Corp Honor Guard will conduct local military honors. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Ft. Bliss National Cemetary in El Paso, Texas. Pallbearers will be Tommy Chavez, Brandon Chavez, Richard Diaz, Eric Diaz, Jason Diaz and R~ynaldo Archuleta.
