Arturo Munoz, 85 of Seal Beach, California passed away August 2nd, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, of complications of Parkinson's Disease. Arturo was born in Tortugas, New Mexico and was known as "El Chicken". He played baseball for the Red Caps and continued to play even after he joined the Army, when stationed in Korea. He was in the National Guard for 20 years and worked as a Welder for the Coast Guard in Long Beach, California for 27 years. He spent most of his life living in Seal Beach, California with his wife, Alvina, until she died in 2013. For the past year and a half, he lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico to be closer to family. Arturo was liked by everyone. He was quiet, kind, gentle, and will be missed. He is also survived by his brothers, Alfredo Munoz of Dona Ana, New Mexico, Efren Munoz Jr., of Los Lunas, New Mexico, Roberto Munoz (Jenny) of Carson, California, Ernesto Munoz (Abbey) of Tortugas, New Mexico, and Hector (Sunqie) Munoz (Marie) of Los Lunas, New Mexico. Arturo is Preceded in death by his wife, Alvina, his parents Efren and Luz, his sister Aurora and two brothers, Ruben and Raul. He is survived by his sisters, Bernice Trujillo (Frank) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Alicia Lucero of Menifee, California, Otilia Singh (Lucas) of Mesilla Park, New Mexico, Sister-in-law, Lucy Munoz of Tortugas, New Mexico, and many nieces and nephews. A viewing is scheduled for Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 9:30am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish, with the funeral Liturgy to follow at 10:00am, the burial will follow at the Tortugas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Trujillo, Nico Mavroleon, Ricky Munoz, Arturo Munoz, Gabriel Munoz, and Jaime Munoz. Service Information
