Arturo Ogaz Lucero was born July 3, 1927, in Las Cruces and passed on July 26, 2022, at the age of 95. His parents were Maria Ogaz Lucero and Evangelisto (Lito) Lucero. Arturo was born on a small farm and at the age of 17 joined the Navy and passed through the Panama Canal in the last year of WWII. He returned and went back to high school to get his diploma and married Genevieve Mirabal. It was at that time White Sands Missile Range opened and he was hired by the Navy and worked as a machinist for 35 years. At his retirement he bought a small farm and returned to his roots. On the farm he planted pecan trees and started planting many vegetables that he sold at the farm and also to Luby's Cafeteria. He loved to drive to Roswell and pick up his sweet potato plants and had quite a green thumb and still followed the Farmer's Almanac for his growing advice. Arturo is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Angie Lucero, brother Raymond Lucero, son Henry Lucero and grandson-in-law Ernie Capoldi. He has two surviving children Dolores Lucero and Albert Lucero: wife Ana. His grandchildren Sebring Lucero, wife Jennifer, Yvonne Capoldi, Yvette Lucero, Savonne Lucero, Jacob Rodriguez wife Thea and Kristin Kimmelman husband David and Samantha Steritz. He has three great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He also is survived by his brother Lito (Jr.) Lucero, sister Bertha Williams and many nieces and nephews. Arturo had many angels helping him the past 5 years as they were helping care for him at his farm from Comfort Keepers that he named his "keeper" girls and guys.
