Arvid (Swede) Berglund Jr., beloved husband, father, "Baca" (grandpa), brother, uncle, and friend passed away on November 14, 2015 in Las Cruces, NM. Swede was born in Fargo, North Dakota to Mae and Arvid Berglund on August 8, 1948. He grew up in Enderlin, North Dakota and was a proud member of the class of "66". As one of the last draftees, he was stationed in El Paso, TX in 1972. After his army tour, he was employed at White Sands Missile Range for 35 years until his retirement in 2007. Swede enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, his Minnesota Vikings, and especially time spent with his family. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge 1119, and Sun Country Amateur Golf Association. Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife of 45 years Laura, his children Arvid Berglund III and his wife Cynthia, Brandon Berglund, Kristen Dirickson, and Amber Grooms and her husband William. Baca really loved his grandchildren; Kaylin, Billy, Marissa, Andie, Eliana, and Addison. Also surviving are his brother Darrell Berglund, Sisters Doreen Oehlke and Elva Engstrom, and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 30, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2900 Elks Dr. in Las Cruces, followed by a gathering for family and friends at the Elks Lodge, 3000 Elks Dr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2900 Elks Dr. Las Cruces, NM 88005.
