Ascencion Acosta, 86 also known as “Chon” entered eternal rest December 13, 2023. He was born March 5, 1937 in Villa Lopez, Chihuahua to Juan and Antonia C. Acosta. He worked and retired from Stahmann Farms after 47 years. Upon his retirement, he continued doing what he loved the most, working outdoors at his own pecan orchard he named “Rancho Acosta”. Ascencion Acosta, 86 also known as “Chon” entered eternal rest December 13, 2023. He was born March 5, 1937 in Villa Lopez, Chihuahua to Juan and Antonia C. Acosta. He worked and retired from Stahmann Farms after 47 years. Upon his retirement, he continued doing what he loved the most, working outdoors at his own pecan orchard he named “Rancho Acosta”. He lived a full life as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Dad’s passing has left a void in the hearts of many who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Edelmira of 64 years; two sons Efrain Acosta (Norma Chavez) of Mesquite, NM; Ascencion Acosta Jr. (Margaret) of Phoenix, AZ; three daughters, Natalia Gordon (Steven) of Las Cruces, NM; Martha Alvarez (Edward) of Silver City, NM; and daughter Sandra Acosta of Las Cruces, NM. His five grandchildren Vanessa Acosta, Natalie Bencomo, Eduardo Alvarez, Stacey and Tabitha Gordon and four great grand-daughters, Olivia and Mila Bencomo, Aranelie and Aleia Alvarez.
Visitation and services will be held on Thursday January 4th, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral Parish in Las Cruces, NM. Viewing starts at 10 a.m. with the rosary and mass following. Concluding service interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Garden Cemetery 5140 W. Picacho Ave, Las Cruces, NM.
