Ashley Renee Vaughn Martinez, age 21, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, was called home to be with our Lord on Monday, January 6, 2014. Ashley was born on October 31, 1992, In El Paso, Texas to Robin Madrid and Brian Vaughn. Ashley grew up primarily in Las Cruces. She was a 2010 graduate of Las Cruces High School, and attended New Mexico State University. Ashley was an accomplished musician. She enjoyed playing the French horn for the Las Cruces High School Band and Orchestra, as well as singing in the Choir. Ashley was a French Horn Section Leader while at Las Cruces High School and was selected to be in the Las Cruces All-City Band, the Las Cruces Youth Choir, as well as the New Mexico All-State Band. Ashley was also a member of the NMSU "Pride of New Mexico" Marching Band and Symphonic Band. On August 11, 2012, Ashley married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Gabriel Martinez. She was a homemaker, devoted wife to Gabe and loving mother to her two beautiful children, Gabriel, 3 years old and Julianne, 3 weeks old. Ashley was a member of the Las Cruces Church of Christ. Ashley is survived by her husband, Gabriel Martinez; son, Gabriel Rayden Martinez; daughter, Julianne Ember-Brook Martinez all of Las Cruces; her mother, Robin Madrid and her husband, Paul of Mora, NM; her father Brian Vaughn and his wife, Jana of Jacksonville, FL; her brothers Tanner Vaughn and Greyson Vaughn, also of Jacksonville; maternal grandparents, Bill and Betty Clark of Las Cruces;...

She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Bob and Lisa Arterbury of El Paso, TX, Chris and Christy Hines of El Paso, TX and Rusty and Debbie Dill of Rio Rancho, NM, as well as her Nieces and a host of cousins. Ashley had a close relationship with her cousin, Will Arterbury of El Paso and she was also very close to her mother-in-law, Martha Howie, and her grandmother-in-law, Juliette Howie, both of Las Cruces. Ashley had many close friends throughout her life and enjoyed spending time with them. There will be a visitation and funeral service on Monday, January 13 at the Las Cruces Church of Christ, 2025 N. Valley Drive, Las Cruces, NM 88007. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM followed by the memorial service at 10:00 AM. The service will be officiated by Dean Peugh. Pallbearers are Paul Madrid, Bob Arterbury, Will Arterbury, Chris Hines, Daniel Hernandez and Julian Montoya.
