Aurora Duran, 73, of Las Cruces, New Mexico died Monday, September 17, 2007 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born April 15, 1934 in Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Felipe and Heriberta Perez. Aurora was a dedicated mother and wife. She was a member of the Sacred Heart League at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Aurora is survived by her husband, Albert Duran of the family home; one son Albert Duran Jr. and his wife Christina; three daughters, Patricia Duran, Stella Cardenas and husband Roger and Sylvia Duran and companion Mike Casaus all of Las Cruces. Three sisters also survive Aurora, Consuelo Rosales (Israel), Josefina Martinez (Ismael) and Margarita Perez-Torres (Vidal) all of El Paso, Texas. She was a beloved grandmother of eight grandchildren, Tanya Espalin (Jason); Renee Garcia; Amanda Quinones; Mathew Cardenas (Ashly); Larissa Duran; Amber Quinones; Jonathan Cardenas; Erica Duran and one great granddaughter, Delilah Cardenas. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Angel Perez, Salvador Perez and Eulalio Perez, and one sister, Juanita Canales. She will be deeply missed by all her family and many friends who knew and loved her. Aurora was a generous, loyal and passionate women with many interests. She loved going to yard and estate sales, collecting antiques, watching novelas, and had a love for gardening. Aurora's sole passion was her children and later on in years her grandchildren. Her love for them was evident by the display of pictures throughout her home. Her best times were cooking for the entire family gathered around her at her home. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Officiating will be Father Ricardo Bauza. Family and friends will gather at the VFW Post 3242, 2001 N. Mesquite immediately following the interment.
