Aurora M. Lucero Aurora M. Lucero 82, of Tortugas, NM died Saturday May 13, 2017 at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, NM after a brief illness. She was born May 4, 1935 in El Paso, TX, the daughter of Ramon and Maria Brigida Apodaca. She was raised and attended school in Las Cruces, NM. She was married to Frank Nevarez on June 10, 1954, but was widowed after her husband lost his life helping a stranded motorist. She later met and married Raul G. Lucero in August 27, 1960. Aurora was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine & Parish and the Alter Society of our Lady of Guadalupe. Aurora worked as a Housekeeper for several years and was a self-taught seamstress who enjoyed reading and watching her Novellas. Her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband Raul G. Lucero on February 16, 2007; a son Richard A. Lucero 2004, sisters Gloria Bustamante 1958 and Emma Ruiz in 2004 and her special Tia Maria Patricia Arevalo in 1990. Aurora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and had an infectious smiled that is remembered by everyone that knew her. Survivors include 3 sons, Frank Nevarez, and wife Kathleen of Cottonwood, AZ, Gilbert Lucero, and wife Angela of Rio Rancho, NM, Joey Lucero of Rio Rancho, NM, one daughter Gloria Baum of Roswell, NM. She is also survived by 8 grandsons, Daniel Nevarez, Micha Nevarez, Dominic Lopez, Patrick Lucero, Matthew Baum, Albert Baum, Phillip Lucero, Noah Lucero, 3 granddaughters, Michaja Glover and husband Shaedon, Tiffany Baum, Crystal Lucero and 6 great-grandchildren, Donovan Lopez, Joseph Lopez, Lotus Richardson, Layla Richardson and Ava Glover. Other survivors include several nephews and nieces, a host of relatives and friends. Public Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 3600 Paroquia St, Las Cruces, NM 88001, on May 19, 2017. Rosary services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine & Parish on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine & Parish with Father Valentine officiating. Burial will follow at Tortugas Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Daniel Nevarez, Micha Nevarez, Patrick Lucero, Matthew Baum, Albert Baum, and Phillip Lucero.
