Barbara May Witte Broome passed away peacefully on March 7, 2022. She was born in Phoenix, AZ on July 31, 1939 to Warren and Erma Witte. Barbara grew up going to watch good ol' classic films and swimming in the neighborhood pool with her beloved younger sisters, Mary Jean and Margaret. After graduating high school, she attended NMSU in Las Cruces, NM. It was there she made many wonderful friends with her Delta Zeta sorority sisters, several of whom remained cherished and lifelong, until she passed. After college, Barbara lived and worked in California, before returning to familiar surroundings, being closer to family and friends. It was at this time she married Don Broome and worked at nearby Holloman AFB. The marriage lasted seven years. Barbara then moved to El Paso, Tx and worked as a Supervisor in Civil Service, for the Veterans Administration. She was there 21 years, before retiring and moving to Hobbs, NM to be closer to sister Mary Jean and her nieces. Barbara enjoyed playing tennis with Mary Jean and friends. She was a voracious reader, owning and extensive book collection. She enjoyed going to the movies, shopping and a favorite plate of tacos! Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved parents, sister Mary Jean Cooper and sister Margaret Witte, who sadly passed when she was only 20. Barbara is survived by niece Marla Cooper, nephew Greg Cooper and wife Christy, all of Las Cruces, NM. Also survived by niece Carla Bell and husband Michel of Midland, Tx and niece Carrie Cooper of Eagle Mountain, Utah. Her special "fur baby" Max is now in another loving home. She will be missed by all of us who loved her, including dear Las Cruces friends Jan and Tim Timmons and Glenda Vincell.
