Barbara June Kuchler was called to be with the Lord on May 4th, 2022, at home surrounded by those that loved and cared for her. She was born Barbara June Morrison to William V. and Ruth L. Morrison on February 19, 1930, in St. Louis, Missouri. She attended school in St Louis and graduated from Rosati Kain All Girls Catholic High School in 1947 after graduation she worked at Woolworths in St Louis, MO. She married Oliver "Al" Kuchler January 21, 1950, later that year they moved to El Paso, TX. In 1951 and 1952 they had two children, John, and Evelyn, that did not survive birth. Barbara started working in El Paos at Hartex Manufacturing until 1958 when she welcomed a daughter, Kathleen Ann. Elizabeth Gail followed in 1959. Barbara worked for the El Paso Public Schools for 39 years as an Administrative Assistant for the Northeast Area Superintendent in Magoffin Elementary-Polk, Salcido, Brown, and Pena. In 1997 she moved with her mother to Las Cruces, to be closer to her daughter and family. She was the caregiver to her mother until her mother's death in 1998. Barbara's passions were her family, religion, friends, and dog Sophie. After retiring she loved to travel with her friends. They traveled many places together including some big trips to Italy, Alaska, and a Cruise to Jamaica, also traveled a lot within the U.S. Faith was something Barbara never lacked. In El Paso she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and ministries- the Rosary Alter Society, Sacristan, Lector, Eucharist Minister, Parish Council member, Tribunal Official. Barbara was one of the original founders of the Child Crisis Center of El Paso for abused/neglected children. She was a member of the 3rd Order Franciscan Queen of Angels Fraternity, which was a huge accomplishment for her and her faith. In Las Cruces, she became very involved at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral and participated in the same ministries, and Parish Council. Family was very important to her. She always loved to be surrounded by family. After the birth of each great grandsons, she spent most of her time helping and have adventures with them. Sophie, her dog, joined the family in 2018 and a became a loyal companion. Barbara is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Kuchler, granddaughter Staci Poe and husband Robert, great grandchildren, Gracin, Gavin, and Gannin Poe (Las Cruces), sweet dog Sophie, Nephews Joseph (Ann) Gatti, Michael (Jeanie) Gatti, Mark (Rosanna) Gatti, great nieces and nephews, cousins, loving care givers Alejandra Sadler, Luz Gomez and Lyddite Loveto. She was preceded in death by her children John, Evelyn and Kathy, her husband Al, mother and father, sister Kathleen Gatti and her husband Joseph, son in law Terry Giever and many more family members and dear friends. Services will be Saturday, June 18, 2022, 10am rosary, and 11:30am funeral at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral.
