Barbara Mae Phillips died April 6, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona from complications of Leukemia. Barbara was born in Flint, Michigan on January 25, 1934 to Ernest and Eleanore Anderson. She married Dr. John D. Phillips in Detroit on August 29, 1953 and they enjoyed 55 wonderful years together. They moved to Las Cruces in 1964 where they raised their family. Barbara loved life, a good joke, swimming, gardening, painting and knitting. She enjoyed travel to all parts of the world and visited all seven continents. She never saw a trip she didn't enjoy. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Junior Women's Club, and Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary and was fond of biweekly meetings with her hobby club. She worked as a volunteer for many years at the Santa Fe Indian Market and was a S.W.I.A. Supporter. She was an enthusiastic Aggie Basketball, Football and Volleyball supporter and also supported the Las Cruces Symphony. Barbara is survived by her husband John Phillips and 3 children, Robert Phillips (Ruth) of Glendale, Arizona, Jeanne Campbell (Alan) of Mission Viejo, California and Janice Piatt (Keith) of Scottsdale, Arizona. She is also survived by her brother Ernest Anderson (Ruth) of Las Cruces, NM. Her eight grandchildren are Tom, Scott, and Robert Phillips, Michael, Jennifer, and Kara Piatt and Katelyn and Sara Campbell. She was preceded in death by son Thomas. Her mother Eleanore Dikowski, died the day after Barbara. She had a full and beautiful life and will be sorely missed by all her family and friends. A visitation will be held on Friday April 10, 2009 from 5-7pm at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at Getz Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 10am and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Sam Ritchey of Wellspring Church of Las Cruces. Pallbearers will be: Tom Phillips, Scott Phillips, Robert Phillips, Michael Piatt, George Hackler and Carroll Hall.
