Orlando, Belva LaRae It is with great sadness that the family of Belva Orlando announce her peaceful passing to Heaven on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the age of 79. Born in Meadow Grove, NE, Belva met the love of her life, Olimpiu Orlando, at the age of 17 and married him at age 18. They called Landstuhl, Germany; Albuquerque, NM; Denver, CO; and Las Cruces, NM home. Belva dearly loved Germany and their many trips to France, Italy, Switzerland, Holland and Luxembourg. Square dancing became their passion; they gave exhibitions in Luxembourg and even danced at a NATO event; Belva made her own square dancing attire and our Barbie clothes. Belva achieved a dream when she opened Handcraft Alley in the Las Cruces, NM Mesilla Valley Mall. She gave her heart and soul to the store for many years. Belva (mom and grandma) will be remembered and missed by her daughters, Kimberli Ronquillo and Amy Orlando, her son in law, Gary Pederson, and her two beautiful grandchildren - whom she often bragged about - James Ronquillo and Elise Ronquillo. She will also be remembered by her brother Buddy Lewis and her niece and nephew Lynn Peltier-Hart and Danny Peltier and their families. She will be missed by Stevie and Jax, her faithful four-legged companions. Belva was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Olimpiu Orlando, her sister Wanda Peltier, her mother Elma Lewis-Hahn, her father Neal Everett Lewis, stepfather Elmer Hahn, sister Maxine Lewis and half-sister Nona Joyce Minges. Belva touched the lives of many, especially her faithful and loyal caretakers. There have been many caretakers over the years, each of them held a special place in Belva's heart. We thank you for your kindness, care and friendship to mom. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be held at 11:15 AM, Tuesday May 28, 2019 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
