Belvia M. Sample, 71 of Las Cruces, NM died Saturday September 4, 2010 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice. She was born May 17, 1939 in Hanford, CA to Lester and Bertha Johnson. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who shared that love by being an active part of her family's life. Belvia M. Sample, 71 of Las Cruces, NM died Saturday September 4, 2010 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice. She was born May 17, 1939 in Hanford, CA to Lester and Bertha Johnson. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who shared that love by being an active part of her family's life. Whether being part of FFA in the 80's with her children or the hours spent with her grandchildren, she will be deeply missed. Belvia was very active D.A.V. and was the current D.A.V.A. Vice Commander, and she also spent many hours in the D.A.V. van helping our Veterans. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Rany Sample of the family home, two sons, Mike Sample of Carson City, NV; Toby Sample of Las Cruces, NM; one daughter Lori Sample of Las Cruces, NM and daughter in-law Valerie Sample. She is also survived by one brother, Emmett Johnson of Tulare, CA; two sisters, Verl Cardoza and Fay Perriea both of Hanford, CA; grandchildren, Mary Sue and Jason Sample; and step-grandchildren Freddy Lawrence and Kristen Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her son, Orin Sample and her brother Jerry Johnson. A visitation will be held Tuesday September 7, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday September 8, 2010 at 10 am also at the Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
