Betty Joan Franzoy, 77, (known as Mamo to the family) went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2012. She was born in Hatch, NM at the house she was raised in until the age of 17. At 17, she married James Franzoy on May 24, 1952. James and Betty made their home in Anthony, NM and moved to Hatch in 1955. They lived in Hatch the rest of their married life until her death. She survived by husband, James Franzoy; four children Kathie Franzoy, Harmon Franzoy and wife Alma; Marty Franzoy and wife Ozena; Ronnie Franzoy, and wife Anna; 10 grandchildren Richard Moyers and wife Naomi; Craig Moyers, Kassandra Holguin and husband Fermin; Quint Franzoy and wife Jennifer; Tyrel Franzoy, Shauna Bhattacharya and husband Shaun; Shaina Meniccuci and husband Jason; Ryan Franzoy and wife Kera; Randy Franzoy and Jenna Franzoy; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother, Jack Black ; and sisters Jeanette Thomas and Linda Boggs. On May 30, 1998 Betty received a heart transplant from 15 year old donor Jeanne Jones. Due to the generosity of Jeanne's family, Betty was able to live almost 14 years longer. She was a homemaker all her life and was famous for her fried chicken and apple pie. What she loved most was being with her family. She loved to play cards. Most of all, she loved the Lord and was a strong Christian. She encouraged all to seek Him. Anyone who knew her loved her! She was preceded in death by: Father Harmon Black, Mother Susan Black and grandparents James and Stella Black and William and Clara Ketchum. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Friday April 20, 2012 at Getz Funeral Home, Funeral services will be held at Adams Church of Christ on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Garden of Memories, Hatch, N.M. Pallbearers will be Mamo's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We love and will miss you. PDF Printable Version
