Bev peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord on January 16, 2016 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center, Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was taken suddenly while recovering from a stroke and surrounded by loving family members including her brother Ronald Holden and his wife Wynola; her son Kenneth Robbins; her grandson Doug Robbins and his wife Crystal; and her step-daughter Valerie McKenzie and her husband Shawn. Bev was born on July 16, 1938 in Hallowell, Kansas to Archie Holden and his wife Ruth Catherine Holden. She graduated from high school in McCune, Kansas, and enjoyed a 25 year career in the banking industry before retiring in 1984. Bev was predeceased by her husband Bud Coons who died last year on June 6. They married in 1984 and resided in Kansas, Oklahoma and Arizona before moving to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 2014. She was a remarkably strong person who devoted herself to caring for her husband as he battled Alzheimer's during the last few years of his life. She is missed and survived by her brother Ronald Holden and his wife Wynola of Harrisonville, Missouri; her son Kenneth Robbins and his wife Peggy of Forsyth, Missouri; her grandson Doug Robbins and his wife Crystal of Oronogo, Missouri; her step-daughter Roberta Brightman and her husband Greg of Oswego, Kansas; her step-daughter Valerie McKenzie and her husband Shawn of Las Cruces, New Mexico; her granddaughter Chesney McKenzie and her husband Caleb Ramsey of Dallas, Texas; her grandson Clinton Brightman and his wife Megan of Lavaca, Arkansas; her grandson Cole Brightman and his wife Kayla of Joplin, Missouri; her great grandsons Rex and Noah Robbins of Oronogo, Missouri and Kip Brightman of Joplin, Missouri; and many more extended family members. She was predeceased last year by her grandson Bryce McKenzie. Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces, New Mexico is handling all arrangements, and the family requests that you pray for Bev and her grieving family instead of sending flowers or gifts.
