Bob Morris, 89, of Las Cruces died Monday, Nov. 26, 2007. He was born April 8, 1918 in Chickasha, OK to Frank Morris Jr. and Eula M. Holder. Bob was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II as a Sergeant. While in the service he was awarded the WW II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Ribbon and the American Theater Ribbon. He was also a retired master plumber with 65 years of faithful service with Local Union #575. Bob was Past Commander and life member of V.F.W. Post #10 of Las Cruces, 50-year member of the American Legion in Longmont, CO., member of the Mason's for over 67 years, a member of the Gideon's and was also a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Morris will be deeply missed by his family and many friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by one sister, nephew James Morris and his wife and by a stepson Tom Stokes. Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Jessie Morris and by his second wife Ruth Morris. A Memorial Service to celebrate Bob's life will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home with Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth of First Baptist Church officiating. The US Army and the Marine Devil Dog's of Las Cruces will provide military honors. Bob's cremains will be laid to rest next to his wife Jessie at Highland Memory Gardens in Thornton, CO. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class-Adult 6 from First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice. PDF Printable Version
