Christine "Chris" Quijano, age 71, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend died peacefully on March 10, 2015 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Christine was born April 30, 1943, in El Paso, Texas, to loving parents Enriqueta and Joe Salas. Family and friends were Chris' passion and delight. Christine "Chris" Quijano, age 71, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend died peacefully on March 10, 2015 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Christine was born April 30, 1943, in El Paso, Texas, to loving parents Enriqueta and Joe Salas. Family and friends were Chris' passion and delight. She thoroughly enjoyed laughter and making those around her smile at her constant silliness. During her junior year of high school, her mother and father moved to Santa Fe to pursue business ventures. She made the tough decision to remain in El Paso and complete her senior year at Bel Air High School and live with her aunt and uncle, Rose and Lou Garcia. She later married, had three children, Kimberly, Victor "Billy", and Vincent. They made their home in Santa Fe where she pursued a career in healthcare and in 1980 chose to move to Las Cruces where she remained. Chris devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, loved bowling, arts and crafts, and gardening in her backyard. Chris is survived by her daughter, Kimberly and husband Mike Rivera of Santa Fe, son Vincent Quijano of Albuquerque, grandchildren: Monica and Juliana Rivera, and Avery and Joseph Quijano, significant other and best friend, Ben Nava, his daughter Monica and her children Debbie and David, sister, Deborah and husband Ruben Encinias, and multiple nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents Enriqueta and Joe Salas, son Victor Quijano III, sister, Irma Clary and her special puppies Teddy and Twiggy
