Carla "Carlita" M. Balizan, 31 of Las Cruces, NM died Wednesday January 28, 2009. She was born April 14, 1977 in El Paso, TX to Albert and Carla Balizan. Carlita was a graduate of Las Cruces High School and attended New Mexico State University where she earned her Bachelors Degree. She was currently employed with the United States Forest Service a job that Carlita loved very much. She had a great love for music, and her gift, was the piano. Carlita loved to play for many of the area churches, special events and for those at the Village at Northrise. Her family will remember the many times she played for them, danced, or told a story to lift their hearts and put a smile on their faces. Most of all, Carlita will be remembered for her cooking. She loved to cook for family, friends, and strangers, and nothing gave her more joy than knowing that people were enjoying what she made, with her hands and heart. Many family gatherings, holidays, and special events, will be forever changed, and the memories of finding what Carlita had made will always hold a special place in our hearts. She is survived by her loving parents Albert and Carla Balizan, two brothers, Efraim and wife Daphanne of Las Vegas, NV; Isidro "Chilo" and wife Silvia of Chula Vista, CA; her adopted family Lynda and Robb Kinney of Albuquerque, NM; and her best friends, her dogs, Humphrey and Lucy. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Monday February 2, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home followed by a Rosary the same evening at 7 pm also at Getz.
