Carmen Delgado beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM. She was born February 8, 1940 in Las Cruces, NM to Domingo and Eugenia L. Gomez. "Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him." 1st Thessalonians 5:13- 15 Carmen's life was a life of miracles. She walked by faith and through the many trials of her life she never lost sight of the Lord and the doing of his work. At the age of 32 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. However, during the pre-operation x-ray the doctors could not find the tumor and therefore did not have to operate. She believed it was God's healing. She responded to God's healing in her life and began serving him whole-heartedly for the rest of her days. In 1992 she was diagnosed with an infection that left her paralyzed for several months. Again, she was restored and it did not take long for her to again start serving the Lord, but this time with renewed determination and vigor. Though she did not receive healing in the way we hoped and prayed for this time, we know that she received the ultimate healing as she received the gift of Salvation offered only by Jesus Christ as she has now entered her eternal reward. She counted the real miracles in her life, the lives that she touched while doing the work of the Lord. She truly lived to see the lives of others change. Her love and compassion for people was among her best attributes. For the past several years she and her husband Benny were on the staff of Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral in Las Cruces where they worked diligently until the day she was hospitalized. She loved the church and they have been active members for the past 30 years. They were on staff for nearly 14 of those 30 years. They touched the lives of all they came in contact with. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Benny Sr. of Las Cruces, NM; her sons Rick of Las Vegas, NV; Benny Jr. of Las Cruces, NM; David of Dallas, TX; and Jacob of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by sisters, Dolores Gomez of Las Cruces, NM; Mary Burhop of Oconomowoc, WI; and Joe Gomez of Albuquerque, NM. She had five Grand children and three great grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Jonathan Delgado and nephew Danny Burhop. A visitation will be held Tuesday September 25, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home from 5-6:30 PM. A rosary service will be held on the same evening, Tuesday September 25 at 7:00 PM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. The funeral mass will be given on Wednesday September 26, 2007 at 10:00 AM with the rite of committal to follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
