Carol Ann Chavez, 54 of Las Cruces, NM died November 21, 2007 at home due to prolonged illness. She was born July 11, 1953 in Lexington Park, Maryland to Walter and Florence MacInnis. She served her country honorably in the United States Navy. Carol was a Computer Specialist with BLM and most recently employed as a secretary at Columbia Elementary School. She was a beloved wife, mother, but most of all she was the greatest Nana in the world to her pride and joy, her "Monkey Boy", Adian. Carol was a very loving, caring person, who would go out her way to help anyone. She is loved and will be missed dearly by all the lives she touched. She is survived by her husband, Albert of the family home; daughter, Melisa Puentes of Las Cruces, NM; son Aaron Puentes and wife Gina of Las Cruces, NM and one grandson Adian Puentes. Step children, Kristie Cano and husband Hector of Las Cruces, NM. Albert Chavez and wife Teresa of Phoenix, AZ; Michael Chavez and wife JoEllen of Pecos, NM and Kevin Chavez of Las Cruces, NM. One brother, Brad MacInnis of Colorado; and two sisters, Susan and Matt Coyman of New Hampshire, and Barbara and Roger Lamothe of North Carolina. Also surviving Carol are 14 step-grandchildren, Kimberly Chavez, Hector Garcia, Daniel Jimenez, Joseph Chavez, Jacob Chavez, Jennifer Chavez, Ricky Garcia, Leanne Garcia, Caleb Cano, Zach Chavez, Ian Chavez, Gemma Chavez, Michael Chavez Jr., Issaih Chavez; one step-great-grandson, Daniel Ray Jimenez, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Walter and Florence MacInnis, one son Shane Puentes preceded her in death. At Carol's request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place at 10 AM on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will take place at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at a later date to honor her services to our country. PDF Printable Version
