Catalina Encinas, 80, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 to be with the family members that proceeded her and to await those who well follow. She was born in Anthony, NM on February 13, 1930 to Refugio and Anacleto Martinez. She spent her younger years on the Martinez Family Farm in Salem, NM with her brother and two sisters. She then married Catarino Candelaria, a WWII Veteran and relocated to sunny Los Angeles, CA. They had three children. After a divorce she then met and married Steve A. Babbey Sr. also a WWII Veteran. They had one son. After a divorce she then married Eddie Encinas. Without her meeting these men this family would not be what it is today. Catalina enjoyed bowling in her middle years and knitting in her later years. Catalina is survived by her two daughters Eva (Gloria) Candelaria and Diane (Sister) Harriman both of Las Cruces, NM; two sons David Candelaria and wife Cassandra of Victorville, CA and Steve A. Babbey and wife Divelia (D.I.) of Las Cruces, NM. She also has one sister Maria Flores and husband Elias of Hatch, NM; ten grandchildren, Mark (Marky) Harriman; Edward (Toogee) Chavez; Charles (Chuck) Ochoa; Michael Candelaria; Misty S. Babbey; Cristina Ochoa; Donna Candelaria; Ashley L. Babbey; Victoria Perez, and David (Davey) Candelaria Jr. and ten wonderful great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Celia Vallejos and Elvira Sanchez; one brother Reymundo Martinez and a grandson Steve A. Babbey III.
