Catarino M. Melendrez, age 92 passed away in Las Cruces, New Mexico on September 18, 2013. Catarino was born on May 28, 1921 in San Isidro, New Mexico. Catarino is survived by his sons, Eddie Melendrez and wife Gloria; Ralph Melendrez and wife Rose; and Gilbert Melendrez of Las Cruces, New Mexico; daughters, Beatrice Snowden and husband Eck of Clay City, Kentucky; Kay Lucero and husband Eddie; and Rosemary Gonzales of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and sister Natalia Nevarez of Las Cruces, New Mexico; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Rosalie; daughter Mellie Melendrez; parents, Juan and Guadalupe Melendrez; brother Johnny Melendrez; and sisters Erminda Carrillo, Esther Melendrez, and Genevieve Borunda. A Prayer Vigil will be held at 10 a.m. on September 28, 2013 where a Funeral Mass will be held immediately following at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 North Miranda St., Las Cruces, New Mexico.
