Cathryn Jean Mack passed away at her home in Las Cruces on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. She was born to Wilbur and Virginia (McCluskey) Wilkinson in Lexington, Nebraska and moved to California as an infant. "Jeanne" as she was known to everyone, was preceded in death by both parents. She was 75. Jeanne graduated from Monrovia-Duarte High School in Monrovia, California in 1957. She worked at Cedar Glen Pharmacy in the San Bernardino Mountains when it was owned by the Samcos and later worked for the Lovejoy family when they became the new owners. Jeanne married her husband, William "Bill" Mack in April 1960 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bill was a long time forest service employee who transitioned from the United States Forest Service to San Bernardino County Fire Department where he retired. Bill and Jeanne moved to Las Cruces where they have lived for many years before Jeanne's death last Tuesday. Bill and Jeanne were avid travelers. They had a host of "R.V." friends and annually ventured to many points in the United States especially the western states Canada and Alaska both independently and with their various travel group affiliations. Most of those friends had known Jeanne for years and remained daily contacts. Jeanne was an accomplished painter and she touched many people who came into her life through painting. She was a founding member of the California Sugarpine Painters and was an active member and past president of the Las Cruces Yucca Pod Painters. Jeanne held other positions and did many things behind the club scenes that will not only be missed but will be hard to replace. Jeanne was also an avid gardener and great cook. For years health issues didn't allow her to eat sweets and yet she baked for her friends and family. This was especially true during holidays or when various fresh fruits were available. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Bill. Their daughter, Leasa Greenamyer, and Leasa's husband Rob, and sons Shaun, Nicholas, and James (wife Jodi) are left to mourn Jeanne's passing. Her loyal friend and companion, golden retriever "Dodger" who was found lying beside her at the time of her passing, also remains. A celebration of Jeanne's life was privately held at the family home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org).
