Charles Allen Poe "Chuck" aka Chuckwagon Dragon aka Kegalicious, 71 died at his home in Las Cruces, NM on December 10, 2020. Charles was born August 17, 1949 in Jackson County, Missouri to James Poe and Marguerite Poe (both deceased). Chuck ggraduated from Turner High School on June 1, 1967 in Kansas City, Kansas. He married his loving queen and wife Marcie Poe on June 3, 2000 but have been together since January of 1990. Chuck was a former Carman at St. Louis San Francisco Railroad from July 1968-November 1979. He later was a Police Officer for Shawnee Kansas Police Department from Dec 1979-Jan 1981. He Proudly served in the army as a Military Police Sergeant from Jan 1981- Sept 1988. He was a Lieutenant for Las Cruces Police Department for 20 years from Sept 1988- Oct 2008. Chuck's career included serving in the Arm 3/71st APA Germany, 300th MP CO. Stuttgart Germany, 359th MP CO. White Sands Missile Range, WSMR Provost Marshall office (Desk Sgt.) WSMR. As well as LCPD Driving instructor, SWAT Commander, Patrol Supervisor, Hostage Negotiation Team Commander. He coached a men's softball team 1991, as well as his sons Little League teams with the Royals, Rebels, Outlaws, and Assistant coach for Mayfield high school baseball 2006 and also Las Cruces Police Department football team the "Hawgs" beginning 1995 with great success. Early in his police career he dressed up as Santa Claus and went to Booker T Washington elementary school to visit the students, he would visit needy children's homes and take presents. He enjoyed hosting barbecues for his family and friends, hosting pool parties for his nieces, nephews, and grandkids. Family was always very important to him whether or not they were blood related he was always there for people to confide in him and willing to help others in any way he could. Chuck put 100% into everything he did in work, sports, and family. He loved with all his heart! He is survived by his Queen and wife Marcie Poe, mother-in-law Dora Galvez; children Rebecca (Bruce) of Tunas, Missouri, Chuck Jr. (Pamela) of Roach, Missouri, Rusty Poe of Las Cruces, Robert (Staci) of Las Cruces, Sissy (Dexter) Hamilton of San Antonio TX, Carlos (Felicia) of Las Cruces New Mexico. He was an amazing father figure to his niece and nephew Quiara and Jaevyn Galvez. He also leaves behind his sister and brothers in laws, Abbie (Isaac), Vivian, Belinda (Gabe), Diana (Ben), Miguel (Chely), Benny (Kristen), David. Grandchildren-Dalton, Gracie, Ajay, Chloe, Sean, Serena, Myles, Gracin, Gavin Nieces and Nephews-Gemma, Diego, Adrian, Alyssa, Gavin, Dominic (Ayishia), David Jr., Enrique, Mokie, Benito, Alyssa, Bengie, Gabriel, Julianne, Jazlyn, Amy, Eliyana, Vicente, Lisa, Jaime, Deena, and nephew Danny and little queen Zahira. Great Nieces- Ali'yah, Kehlani, and Anevay. Cousins Lee Poe, Vicki Stauch, John Poe, Jimmy Cox, Lynne Poe Hall, and many more that shared his childhood He is preceded in death by his parents James and Marguerite Poe and his sister Cindy Ann Poe along with his best friend Charlie Apodaca. He considered all his military and police brothers and sisters' part of his extended family. His dedication to the Army and LCPD was beyond compare. He was a wonderful father figure to those without one, had many honorary children and grandchildren. He was a very influential person on many of their lives. Service is scheduled for Tuesday December 22, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM for public viewing followed by a small service beginning at 2:00 pm at Getz Funeral Home conducted by Chaplain Conant Carr.
