Charles "Chuck" Gribble passed into the next world of God on Wednesday June 25, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born halfway between Dove Creek and Cortez, Colorado on October 26, 1947 to Charlie and Margaret (Dunn) Gribble. Chuck attended school in Tularosa and Las Cruces, graduating from Las Cruces High School in 1965. He became involved in several forms of motor sports as well as becoming a "Biker" in the best sense of the term. Chuck moved to Gallup, NM in order to marry Muriel Edwards on August 12, 1972. The couple moved back to Las Cruces in 1975. He went to work for Picacho Hills Country Club at the very out set of the project, grubbing mesquite bushes and running irrigation lines in the now familiar terrain of the golf course. After the construction was completed, he stayed on with the Country Club, rising to the position of Assistant Superintendent. In 1999 Chuck suffered a disabling spinal injury, but he didn't let it keep him down for long. He became involved with the fledgling Arroyo Seco Motorcycle Track and set about helping to develop the ASMA club by being its first starter and race control. Only his worsening back problems finally forced him to retire in 2005. Chuck is survived by his wife, Muriel and their two dogs Happy and Punkin. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. PDF Printable Version
