Charles N. Sponheimer, 86, of Las Cruces, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2005. He was born Nov. 29, 1918 in Patchogue, New York to Charles and Agnes Bignal Sponheimer. Charles was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp where he served his country honorably during WW II. While in the service of his country he was awarded the Distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the WW II Victory Medal. He was a retired machinist from the Brookhaven National Nuclear Lab in Upton, New York. Mr. Sponheimer will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Virginia Sponheimer of the family home; son Carl Sponheimer and daughter Terry Sponheimer of Webster City, Iowa. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, July 18, 2005 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors. Officiating will be Dr. Alan Granger. PDF Printable Version
