Charlotte Gaskins Bagwell, 86, passed away on Monday, May10, 2010, at Good Samaritan Village in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was born on October 10, 1923 in Chesterfield, South Carolina to Carl and Bryte Rivers Gaskins. Charlotte Gaskins Bagwell, 86, passed away on Monday, May10, 2010, at Good Samaritan Village in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was born on October 10, 1923 in Chesterfield, South Carolina to Carl and Bryte Rivers Gaskins. She was a homemaker and will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She met the love of her life, Edward Jay Bagwell during the war years and they were married on September 4, 1943, in Austin, Texas. She loved fishing, camping, artifact hunting, cooking, and being with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother Jesse, sister Madge, and husband Edward. She is survived by her children; Tom Bagwell and wife Denise of Las Cruces, Charlene Salopek and husband Michael of Las Cruces, Susie Griffin and husband Pete of Tularosa, Ed Bagwell and wife Lynn of Las Cruces, James Bagwell and wife Marilyn of Las Cruces, Peggy Salopek and husband Dickie of Las Cruces, sisters Peggy, Betty, Mary Ella, Joan, and Jean, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks go to the nurses and staff at Good Samaritan for their special care of our loved one. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 10 am at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces, with her nephew Father Steve Dean of St. Francis of Assisi officiating.
