Cipriano Guerra Bernal (Cipi), 77, of Las Cruces, died July 11, 2007. Cipi was born in Mesilla Park, NM, November 12, 1929, to Raomon and Rafaela Bernal. He graduated from Las Cruces High School and attended New Mexico State University in the 1950s. Cipriano was a great athlete and played basketball for his beloved Bulldogs. He was also known for his boxing skills. He was a Korean War Veteran (1950-52 US Army). He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him. Cipi was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon Bernal, Sr., and Rafaela Guerra Bernal, brother Arturo Bernal and sister Carolina Holford. He is survived by three brothers: Ramon Bernal, Jr., Reymundo Bernal, Roman Bernal, son Arturo Bernal, two daughters, Rachel Bernal and Elizabeth Bernal, all of Las Cruces, NM. Pall Bearers will be Joe Padilla, Mannie Padilla, Gilbert Almanzar, Roman Bernal, Michael Bernal, Rick Bernal and Art Bernal. Mr. Bernal (Cipi) grew up in Mesilla Park, NM. A visitation will be held at Getz Funeral Home on July 16, 2007 from 5-7 pm, with a prayer vigil to follow. The funeral mass will be held at San Albino Catholic Church in Old Mesilla on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 10 am with internment to follow at San Albino Catholic Cemetery in Old Mesilla.
