Rev. Claudie Louise Gilchrest, 79 of Las Cruces, NM died Friday, May 23, 2008 at Las Cruces Nursing Center. She was born January 18, 1929 in Motley County, Texas to Ewell W. and Ruth Gilchrest. Rev. Claudie Louise Gilchrest, 79 of Las Cruces, NM died Friday, May 23, 2008 at Las Cruces Nursing Center. She was born January 18, 1929 in Motley County, Texas to Ewell W. and Ruth Gilchrest. Claudie had been a New Mexico resident for the past 47 years and had been a missionary for the Assembly of God Church. She is survived by two sisters, Bernice A. Chewning of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Mildred F. Blanton of Las Cruces, NM. Also surviving her are eight nieces and nephews, Vita Steinkamp, Linda Whitacker, Annette Kannaday, Tonjia Davis, Charlotte Duvall, Ronald Blanton, Douglas Blanton, and Wendell Blanton. Besides her parents, Ewell and Ruth Gilchrest, a brother Thomas M. Gilchrest preceded her in death. A visitation will be held from 9 AM to 10 AM on Tuesday, May 29, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home where funeral services to celebrate Claudie's life will follow at 10 AM with Pastor Johnny Elliott officiating. A second visitation will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Hughes Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas with graveside services to follow at 2:00 pm the Fairview Cemetery also in Memphis, Texas.
