Cless Irvin Layer lost his battle with lung cancer Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at La Posada in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was born on November 3, 1928 to John and Lavinia Layer, in Cooper, Texas, the youngest of six children; Joe Boyd, Madeline Boyd, Murline Boyd, Venice Layer and Van Layer. He is survived by his wife, Dorna Kam Chai Layer, whom he married on April 7, 1948 in Dallas, Texas, his daughter Terree Paschall, her children, William C. Furby, IV, wife Erin, Jason L. Furby,and wife Moya; son, Wade Layer, his wife Sandra Layer, and their children Stefanie Layer, Christopher Layer and Zachary Layer; Marie Layer, wife of deceased son Lane Mitchum Layer. Cless was a Mason, Shriner, Sciot and when he moved to Las Cruces in 1992 he became a member of the Elks. He retired from CBS Television City in Hollywood, California as head of their paint department. His hobby was collecting information of movie stars. His notes go back to 1918, listing births, deaths, marriages and to whom, number of children, what they died of and where they are buried. He was a kind and helpful person, always friendly with all his neighbors. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at Getz Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, July 11, 2014 at 10:00 am.
